Susie and I returned from her Neuro-Oncologist appointment today. It has been quite a whirlwind last four months. After three months of Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment, Susie had a brainstem stroke in April. She met with many doctors and has completed around three months of speech, physical and occupational therapy. I personally feel she has greatly improved and often joke she can now walk, talk and chew gum again (note: she does not like chewing gum).
Susie’s cancer appointment today confirmed my sentiments. The regions affected by her multiple strokes look much improved. Even her flair abnormalities look better. Her Neuro-Oncologist says she’s made an amazing bounce back. So we were instructed to keep doing whatever we are doing. We did discuss a few challenges, namely neuropathy on her right extremities. So Susie will try a prescription to help alleviate the pins and needles sensation, and she will continue speech, physical and occupational therapy.
To celebrate Susie’s good news we are going on vacation. We’ve decided to do a road trip to see the Solar Eclipse, a bunch of Friends and Mount Rushmore/ Pike’s Peak. In the meantime, we have our niece and her beau living with us, so our vegetable garden will hopefully survive while we are gone.
